Welcome to the homepage of Acorn Morris. This site is an introduction to who we are, what we do, and where you can find us doing it. It may entice you to come along to see us dance, or it may even inspire you to have a go yourself.
We’ve included a bit of background information about the various traditions and styles found within the all-encompassing title of ‘morris dancing’ and pictures of the team from the past thirty years.
Who we are
First of all, we are a women's morris side, based in York although some of our members travel in from the outlying villages. Acorn Morris was founded in 1977 so we've been around a while. The team is quite varied in experience from those who have been dancing since they were children and those who for some reason have taken it up as adults. Again, some members have been dancing for years, others not so long. We're from a wide range of backgrounds, some international, but the one thing we all have in common is that we enjoy the dancing.
